The crankcase remains hidden, under the aluminium protections, and an ingenious float lets you know if the oil was at its level when the engine was still at rest.
Once aboard the La Buire Type 10 A Torpédo and with the steering wheel to the right, on the aluminium dashboard are arranged four spheres, which from left to right correspond to the speedometer, the ammeter, a time clock and the ingenious oleometer, which when there is no oil pressure leaves four red blades in sight as an alarm signal. A glance at the bottom bracket: the smaller, lower central pedal gives the impression of being the accelerator, and indeed it is.
