Bailey Blade XTR

Neal Bailey started to work on this project back in 2007, but only now he managed to find funds to finish it. According to the first details released on the XTR, it will weight anywhere between 2,200 to 2,700 pounds, depending on the options selected.

This low weight will be obtained by the intense use of carbon fiber and Kevlar, as well as a steel/composite chassis. The model will also be equipped with an active-aerodynamic package and will boast a 45:55 rear-biased weight split.

Dimensions:

Wheelbase: 101 inches
Overall length: 156 inches
Body width, without mirrors: 72 inches (at rear fender)
Overall height 45 inches
Front track width: 58 inches
Rear track width: 59 inches

The most amazing part of the XTR is under the hood. Here, Bailey placed a 5.0-liter Ford Racing “Aluminator” V-8 engine with power levels ranging from 550 to 750 horsepower. The manufacturer avoids a supercharged engine that is the basic configuration and a dual turbocharger configuration that is the highest output range.

This engine features an aluminum block, pistons and cylinder heads; forged steel crankshafts and H-beam connecting rods; a large oil sump; composite oil intake; and an 80 mm diameter butterfly body with cable transmission.

The engine is coupled to a six-speed manual transmission, achieving acceleration from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.2 seconds.

The Blade XTR sits on 19-inch wheels wrapped in high-performance 275/35ZR19 front and 335/35ZR19 rear tyres. There is also a high-performance braking system with six-piston calipers at the front and four-piston calipers at the rear. These front and rear calipers allow the 14 by 1.02 and 12.8 by 0.65 inch rotors to be tightened, respectively.

Because we’re talking about a very powerful sports car, Bailey also installed a four-wheel independent short/long arm double trapeze suspension with six-way adjustable twin shock absorbers with adjustable springs and adjustable suspension height control.

Few details have been offered on the XTR’s interior, but from the few photos we have, it looks like the car will be equipped with Recaro sports seats, plus lots of leather and carbon-fiber insertions.
