The Abarth 695 Maserati Edition, the new Limited Edition (499 vehicles) made its society debut on the occasion of the thirtieth anniversary of the Mille Miglia, which Enzo Ferrari described as “the most beautiful race in the world”. Presented in the Piazza della Loggia in Brescia amidst the automotive jewels of collectors and “luxury cars”, this glamorous car represented the link between Abarth and Maserati, based on a series of shared values, including attention to detail, elegance and a passion for performance and sport.
Following the three-year collaboration project with Ferrari and the creation of the Abarth 695 Ferrari Tribute, this was yet another project confirming Abarth’s authorized presence in the luxury sports segment, this time flanked by a brand whose history of sporting achievements and elegant road cars is recognized around the world. Karl Abarth and Alfieri Maserati: two legends united by a passion for mechanics and engines, which lent their names to two of the most prestigious companies to manufacture cars marked by unmistakable style and performance.
Like the Abarth 695 Ferrari Tribute was the ultimate expression of Abarth’s sporting character and “racing spirit”, this Limited Edition embodied elegance coupled with the comfort of a “GranTurismo”, but with the handling of a car fit to go out on the road every day.
The Abarth 695 Maserati Edition was an exclusive convertible that combined the aggressiveness and sportiness of a high-performance car with the refined and elegant aesthetics of a convertible. In accordance with Maserati standards, this Limited Edition was distinguished by its excellent maneuverability and sportiness, along with a high level of comfort and attention to materials and details.
The new Abarth 695 Maserati Edition features exclusive styling details and special technical features developed by Abarth engineers for Maserati. To start with, the 1.4 Turbo T-Jet 16v engine was increased to 180 hp and combined with the electrically driven Abarth Competizione manual gearbox with steering wheel controls, which improved engine performance with reduced shifting times and ensured a superior comfort experience at the wheel.
Again to improve performance, especially acceleration, the car was equipped with high-performance tyres on 17″ alloy wheels with a special Maserati-inspired “Neptune” design. The driving and braking system was also reinforced to cope with the additional power: detachable 305 mm Brembo brake discs with four-piston grey fixed calipers and special Koni shock absorbers that guaranteed safe performance.
Nor would it be complete without the “dual-mode” variable backpressure exhaust, designed to improve engine performance and provide an inspiring sound above 3,000 rpm, with exhaust pipes that have been modified to assume the hexagonal shape that has always characterized Maserati cars.
Outside the car there is a bodywork in Pontevecchio Bordeaux. This Maserati colour is achieved with a special three-layer paint that reflects light and accentuates the brightness of the colour. The same paint is also found on the exterior mirrors. The electrically operated hood is made of grey fabric.
This Abarth adopted xenon headlamps with dipped beam and driving functions for better light emission and excellent performance in all weather conditions. These devices provide three times the light intensity and lifetime of standard halogen headlamps.
The customization was just as complete on the inside. The interiors show both the attention to detail and sportiness that characterize both brands, starting with the seats upholstered entirely in sand beige leather, with single-layer padding containment strips, sporty yet elegant and comfortable, and with stylish details such as the number “695” hot-stamped on the headrest. The dashboard and gearbox trim are distinguished by a special matt carbon coating embossed with the 695 logo, while the door and rear panels are subjected to a special UV-LUX treatment that gives the trims an elegant grey “flocking” effect. The black leather steering wheel features beige leather inserts and tricolour hub and houses the “steering wheel gearbox” controls, while the instrument panel has been specifically manufactured by the Jaeger brand. Other details enrich the interior, such as the aluminium pedestal and sill plate, the carbon fibre plate with customised “Abarth 695 Maserati Edition” graphics and the plate with the car’s serial number from 1 to 499. Finally, as proof of its tourist vocation and to enhance the on-board experience, the Abarth 695 Maserati Edition came as standard with a JBL hi-fi system reinforced with 9 speakers and an 8-channel amplifier that delivers 400 W total power.
In the tradition of Abarth Limited Editions, the already extensive equipment of the Abarth 695 Maserati Edition was expanded with accessories and merchandising designed to enhance the brand experience both onboard and outside the car, as dictated by the DNA of Abarth and Maserati: more than a car, a true philosophy of life. For example, the Tramontano Tribute to Abarth Travel Pack, made up of two elegant anthracite leather travel bags.
