Les mod\u00e8les de la s\u00e9rie Seventeen de Packard, lanc\u00e9s en septembre 1939, sont revenus dans la lign\u00e9e des mod\u00e8les Six, Eight, Super Eight et Twelve. <\/p>\n

La s\u00e9rie Super Eight, compos\u00e9e des mod\u00e8les 1703 et 1705, a re\u00e7u les changements majeurs pour 1939. Le nombre de mod\u00e8les de carrosseries Super Eight disponibles a \u00e9t\u00e9 r\u00e9duit en 1939 de 15 \u00e0 seulement six. <\/p>\n

Quatre \u00e9taient dans l’empattement de 3 225,8 millim\u00e8tres et deux dans le ch\u00e2ssis de 3 225,8 millim\u00e8tres. La carrosserie de la 1703 se compose d’un coup\u00e9 club, d’un coup\u00e9 d\u00e9capotable, d’un coup\u00e9 coup\u00e9, d’un coup\u00e9 tourisme et d’une berline d\u00e9capotable. La s\u00e9rie 1705 \u00e9tait disponible en version Touring Limousine et Touring Berline. Les mod\u00e8les sur mesure n’\u00e9taient plus offerts.<\/p>\n

L’\u00e9nergie provenait d’une t\u00eate en forme de L \u00e0 huit cylindres qui d\u00e9pla\u00e7ait 5,243 cm3 et offrait 130 chevaux-vapeur. Les culasses sont maintenant en fonte pour plus de durabilit\u00e9. La transmission \u00e9tait une unit\u00e9 \u00e0 trois vitesses synchronis\u00e9es \u00e0 mailles s\u00e9lectives avec commandes de changement de vitesses mont\u00e9es sur colonne. Les freins hydrauliques fournissaient la puissance de freinage. Les rapports de compression et de pont arri\u00e8re ont \u00e9t\u00e9 mis \u00e0 jour en 1939.<\/p>\n

Parmi les changements apport\u00e9s en 1939, mentionnons le changement de vitesses sur colonne, les nouveaux feux arri\u00e8re et les stores de capot r\u00e9vis\u00e9s. Les options comprenaient un tachym\u00e8tre, un surmultiplicateur et un dispositif de blocage de pente.<\/p>\n

En 1939, Packard produit 3 962 exemplaires du Super Huit. Comme toujours, ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 construits selon les normes les plus \u00e9lev\u00e9es et ont \u00e9t\u00e9 l’une des meilleures voitures am\u00e9ricaines de l’avant-guerre.<\/p>\n
