Der Radstand betrug 114.5\u2033 (2908.3 mm).<\/p>\n<p>Gro\u00dfe Motoren werden zu ihrer Zeit fast nie auswendig gelernt. Egal wie wichtig sie sind, wenn sie in Rente gehen, das Unternehmen, das sie gebaut hat, m\u00f6chte normalerweise, dass Sie sie vergessen und stattdessen nach dem letzten Angebot suchen. Und wenn sie eine ganze Klasse von Motoren f\u00fcr immer aufgeben, wie es Packard nach 1912 tat, als sie zu einem Sechszylinder-Aufgebot gingen, tun sie gerne so, als w\u00e4re die Vergangenheit nie passiert.<\/p>\n<p>Erst im Jahr zuvor war Packards Modell 30 die Spitze ihrer herausragenden Produktpalette, aber zwischen 1909 und 1912 \u00e4nderten alle m\u00f6glichen Autofirmen ihr Angebot, um teurere, leistungsf\u00e4higere und luxuri\u00f6sere Autos zu verkaufen. So trat 1912 der neue Packard Six von 8603 cm3, von 5.000 Dollar, dem Modell 30 in den Katalog ein und \u00fcbertraf es schnell im Verkauf. Ein kleines neues Modell 38-6 ersetzte im folgenden Jahr die gesamten 30.<\/p>\n<p>Die Model 30 touring, als Verkaufsleiter f\u00fcr mehrere Jahre, war immer noch das, was die Packard-Leute im Sinn hatten, als sie \u00fcber die Marke nachdachten. So war der Absatz 1912 noch stark, aber \u00e4hnlich wie bei den heutigen Ausgangsmodellen kam ein gro\u00dfer Teil davon aus dem Flottenverkauf. Obwohl er bei 4.200 Dollar begann, ein Vielfaches des Preises fast aller anderen Vierzylinderwagen, machten die Kraft und Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit des gro\u00dfen Packard ihn attraktiv f\u00fcr schwere Anwendungen wie Krankenwagen und Polizeiwagen.<\/p>\n<p>Zwischen 1906 und 1912 baute Packard 11.718 Vierzylindermodelle, davon fast drei Viertel Modell 30. In den letzten f\u00fcnf Jahren blieben die Preise unver\u00e4ndert, da das Auto allm\u00e4hlich immer besser wurde, mit zunehmendem Luxus und Serienausstattung. Indem Packard fast seine ganze Aufmerksamkeit auf ein Modell konzentrierte (es gab einen kleinen Bruder Modell 18), erzielten beide einen starken Gewinn und machten ihre Autos zu einem immer besseren Kauf. Auf diese Weise legten sie den Grundstein f\u00fcr die Jahre des Erfolgs und die kommenden au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlichen Autos.<\/p>\n<p>1250 Packard des Modells 30 wurden 1912 zu einem Preis von 4.200 $ hergestellt.
