Dies war eine erstaunliche Leistung, wenn man den relativ hohen Startpreis von 2.600 Dollar bedenkt, den diese Luxusautos forderten. <\/p>\n<p>Der V-12-Motor bestand aus zwei Sechszylinder-Eisenbl\u00f6cken, die in einem Winkel von 60 Grad angeordnet und von einem Aluminium-Kurbelgeh\u00e4use getragen wurden. Es handelte sich um ein Seitenventildesign, das insgesamt 6948 cm3 verdr\u00e4ngte und 88 PS lieferte. Die Kolben bestanden aus einer leichten Aluminiumlegierung und es gab eine vollst\u00e4ndige Druckschmierung, die die Langlebigkeit der Motoren unterst\u00fctzte. <\/p>\n<p>Motor, Kupplung und Getriebe waren eine Einheit und ersetzten Packards fr\u00fchere Konstruktion, bei der die Transaxle auf der Hinterachse montiert war. Packard war einer der ersten, der diese Art der \u00dcbertragung einsetzte. Diese Konfiguration reduzierte das ungefederte Gewicht der Hinterachse, verbesserte Handhabung und Handhabung und sorgte f\u00fcr mehr Zuverl\u00e4ssigkeit und Steifigkeit.<\/p>\n<p>Die technologischen Verbesserungen setzten sich 1917 fort, als Packard einen neu gestalteten Twin Six mit separaten Zylinderbl\u00f6cken und Gussk\u00f6pfen einf\u00fchrte.
